This photo (from the Museu Villa-Lobos) is used to excellent effect in the guitarist Carlé Costa’s new CD Alma de uma terra, which includes the Preludes and the 1928 version of the Etudes. Costa understands Villa’s strong, and early, bona fides as an environmentalist. His playing is really excellent, and the recording very fine.
