The radio program Concertos UFRJ is heard every Monday evening on Roquette Pinto FM in Rio de Janeiro. The programs are available on demand at the excellent Escola de Musica UFRJ website; a listing of programs is here. The November 1, 2010 podcast features music for winds, and includes the very rarely heard Villa-Lobos work Fantasia em três movimentos em forma de choros, played by the Orquestra de Sopros da UFRJ, under the direction of Marcelo Jardim. It’s the last piece of the program, but I highly recommend the entire hour, which also includes music by Gabrieli, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, and Holst.
